The Bubba Bash Benefit!

Well 3SO fans, if you could not make it out to the Bubba Bash Benefit at the Iron Saddle Saloon (Akron, OH), then you missed out! And, we know you could not make it Eddie; we hope that everything is okay!

Well, due to the fact that I had to work Sunday afternoon, we could not make it to the benefit until later in the afternoon! But, when we got their, the placed was packed and had been packed since early afternoon. Now, many of you don't know, but the benefit was to raise funds for Andre "Bubba" Robinson for a Kidney transplant. You see, Bubba has been in the music scene for well over 20 years and most recently was employed at The Jigsaw (Parma, OH). Unfortunately, due to its closure, Bubba was let go and as such lost his medical coverage, which in-turn prevented him from qualifying for a Kidney transplant. So, Rich and Gina (Good friends of Bubba) went out of there way as a surprise to put a benefit bash together to raise funds for him and despite a hectic start on Sunday afternoon (May 17, 2009), the event in my opinion went very well.

Many bands from all over came in support of this event to play their hearts out to entertain the crowds all afternoon. Bands such as The Breakfast Club feat. Billy Morris (Formerly of Warrant), High Energy, The Jak Band, Octane, World Gone Mad, Nemesis 3, and of course 3SO. And, we were very pleased to be asked at last moment to be apart of this wonderful event. The event was also sponsored by The American Diabetes Association. Why do you ask? Because, Bubba, with his big heart and love for music and people is also Diabetic. But, you would never know it.

So, the night went on with the poker run in place, great food and of course great music! It was a pleasure seeing some old friends and new fans stick around all the way to the end of the night, which is when we finally played our set. However, beforew we played our set, we were blown away by the coolest 10 year old & 12 year old I've ever seen. Trust me when I say, you've never seen kick ass rock until you see High Energy perform. These kids were amazing. I highly encourage everyone to check out these boys at www.myspace.com/highenergyoh1. Even though it was late, getting colder and (we were all tired), we busted out an hour set for those who stood around and those who came to see us and support the benefit! There were some crazy spastic moments by yours truly on the stage. And, I think for the first time Tyler (Bass) and I collided! Totally my fault. He did not know I was behind him at the time he jumped backwards! We didn't miss a beat though! Oh, and by the way, Tricycle Boy aka Alex (drummer) got to play his kit. LOL! Be sure you ask him why he gets that nickname!

So, the night ended with a bang, of course. And we all were beyond tired and loved every minute of it. By the time we broke down our gear and loaded up, it was about 1 o'clock in the morning. I'm not certain how much funds the event raised but with all the people their, I'm sure it was good! So, in short, we hope that Bubba will be able to afford the transplant and we thank Rich and Gina of the Iron Saddle for the opportunity once again. We hope you all can make our next show. Be sure to check the schedule for more information at our official website www.3soband.com.
